"Decide and do!" - How OTTO WULFF is moving forward
On the first leg of their circumnavigation, a bad maneuver between the Canary Islands cost Lennart Burke and Melwin Fink an important sail. A courageous change of course by the OTTO WULFF sailing duo shortly before the finish ultimately cost them second place: Lennart and Melwin didn't do everything right on the first leg of the Globe40, but they made decisions and had to make them.

"We are still young, testing our limits and making mistakes," said Lennart. "This has shown just how important it is to have strong partners and sponsors like OTTO WULFF behind you. That catapulted us forward again and allowed us to attack."
Making decisions and correcting them if necessary
"In our project business, we also have to constantly make decisions based on the data available to us. This data is never complete. If the data situation changes, we have to react and correct the decisions we made yesterday," says Nils Wendler, Managing Director of OTTO WULFF Bauunternehmung.
It's like changing course on the high seas, where conditions can change from one moment to the next.
"The worst thing is not to make any decisions"
Nils Wendler: "Despite this incomplete data situation, we are able to act because we know our trade and bring our own expertise to bear on any incomplete data situation. The worst thing is not to make any decisions, then we're not doing our job!"
30,000 nautical miles around the globe
With their "Next Generation Boating - Around The World" project, Lennart and Melwin are showing courage by sailing 30,000 nautical miles around the globe. And also the courage to make mistakes.
They have analyzed and corrected their wrong decisions and have plunged into the second and longest leg of their sailing adventure of over 7,000 nautical miles to La Réunion with renewed courage.
Naming mistakes, resolutely correcting them, learning from them and bravely moving on: This is also the corporate culture practiced at OTTO WULFF.
"Keep stepping on the gas immediately"
We continue to sail alongside Lennart and Melwin, supporting our duo as they face the next challenges on the horizon, just like every other employee who faces difficult decisions and takes responsibility for themselves and the company.
"Keep going straight away" was Lennart and Melwin's courageous maxim on the challenging first stage. As Nils Wendler puts it: "If you don't do anything, you won't make any mistakes. So please: Decide and do!"
